For Appu!

A poem by Gopal Das Neeraj that I think deserves a space in this bog as well as a read by anyone who understands Hindi.

Courtesy - Aparajita, girl who has spoken to me about Hindi Literature more than any one else and much of my "very little" knowledge of the same is credited to her.

yahin is maya ki duniya mein ghoomte hue aapke is blog pe nazar pad gayi ... kahin neeraj ki is kavtia se mulakaat nahi hui thi lekin aaj aapne kara di ... kuch nazm ya kahiye kuch ehsaas hain jo is kavita ke kaafi kareeb hai
ek harivansh rai ki kavita hai

Jo Beet Gaya So Baat Gayi

"Jeevan mein ek sitara tha
Maana woh behad pyara tha
Woh doob gaya to doob gaya
Ambar ke aanan ko dekho
Kitne iske tare toote
Kitne iske pyare choote
Par bolo toote taron par
Kab ambar shok manata hai

(Ambar –aasmaan , Shok -dukhi hona)

Jo beet gayi so baat gayi ....

Jeewan mein tha who ek kusum
The us pe nitya nyochawar tum
Wo sookh gaya to sookh gaya
Madhuwan ki chaati ko dekho
Sookhi kitni iski kaliyan
Jo murjhai phir kahan khili
Par bolo sookhe phoolon pe
Kab madhuvan shok manata hai ?

(Kusum-flower , Nitya-hamesha, nyochawar- dedicated, madhuvan- gulshan)

Jo beet gayi so baat gayi

Jeewan mein madhu ka pyala tha
Tumne tan man de daala tha
Woh toot gaya to toot gaya
Madiralay ka aangan dekho
Kitne pyaale hil jaate hain
Gir mitti mein mil jate hain
Jo girte hain kab uthte hain
Par bolo toote pyalon mein kab madiralay pachtata hai ?

(Madhu-sharab, madiralaya-sharabkhana, pachtana-repent)

Jo beet gayi so baat gayi

"

Par kayi baar kahani ka beetna bahut aasaan hota hai
mushkil hota hai us murjhate hue sapne ko rokna ... shayad woh dard ka na hona zindagi aasaan kar de lekin kya us dard ke bina zindagi utni aasaan hoti hai ?

Lekin yeh sab agar samajhna itna aasaan hota hume ek hi neeraj ya ek hi harivansh kyon hote

Waise kabhi bhi ek bahut achi kavita ek bhasa mein hi nahi simti rehti hai ... woh ek tasveer ya dhun ki tarah hoti hai ...

On a different matter your is one of the best blogs i have seen. and you have the pain and the enthusiasm + the will to fight which is the essential raw material for any writer.

Hey Bar,
This poem reminds Sundeep of his school days.

@ freefalling - Thank you for the read. Certainly one of the interesting comments so far.
In my opinion, pain of certain kind is infact rather desirable in our lives. Contrarian as it may sound, it is living through and surviving those hurt and pain that makes one a more complete human being. In simpler words, hurt is inevitable as long as one feels and some pain are to be felt, endured and then moved forward upon. So my take-away - "kuchh sapno ke mar jaane se jeevan nahin mara karta hai"
Agree to the statement that a good poem has no language.

Hi Nemo,
Thanks for your reply. I agree with the ability to feel hurt making us complete.
Had once read something by someone whom i consider a poet (world knows him as a singer) and would like to quote something he had written
"I've given up the game, I've got to leave,
The pot of gold is only make-believe.
The treasure can't be found by men who search
Whose gods are dead and whose queens are in the church."

Abstruse as it may sound the first line somewhere points to the thought that you mentioned.
Cheers
